- Dark Glass bottles with lid
- Herbs, flowers, or fruit peels of your choice
Step-by-step to make essential oils
- The first step is to choose a carrier oil. This oil is a means by which the essence of the plant, flower, or fruit peel will be preserved. There are several types of carrier oils available, but the most commonly used are wheat germ oil, almonds, and jojoba.
- The second step is to fill a glass jar with 225 grams of herbs or flowers of your choice. Two teaspoons of ground dried herbs are equivalent to three or four fresh branches. You can use more than one herb, flower, or fruit peel to make essential oils combinations.
- The third step is to dump the carrier oil in the jar with herbs or flowers. Fill it until it reaches the base of the jar lid. Close the lid properly, preventing any air from getting in. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all containers.
- The fourth step is to fill your clay pot with water and put your jars inside. Remembering: The lid has to prevent the exchange of air and water, completely sealed.
- The fifth step is to cook the jars on low heat and let them simmer for 8 hours. During the course of 8 hours, be sure to monitor the water level. Add more water as needed to keep the basin full.
- The sixth step is to wait for the water to cool to then remove the pots from the pan, and let them cool at room temperature. It is recommended to leave the herbs, flowers, and peels in the oil, so that the infusion continues to occur.
