The finding is also based on studies by the famous biochemist William Frey, considered a “specialist in tears. According to his findings, crying caused by stress or strong emotions helps to expel toxic substances from the body, which is also good for weight loss.

Studies also suggest that between 7 pm and 10 pm would be the best time to cry because the release of cortisone is at its peak.

But for “heart of stone” people, it is important to note that it will be difficult to enjoy the benefits of crying for weight loss. This is because the reactions that help with weight loss only happen when the tears are genuine, that is, induced by emotional reasons. Slicing onion, in this case, won’t do any good.

Scientists classify that there are three types of tears: basal, reflective and emotional.

The basal tear is the most common tear, responsible for keeping the eyes hydrated and free of dirt. The Reflective arises after eye irritation, due to the presence of particles or irritating substances in the environment. And the last, emotional, is caused by feelings and emotions of the individual such as pain, stress, sadness and happiness. Only the latter can help with weight loss.

Crying itself burns few calories. Normally, the heart muscles burn 8, 5 calories per hour, but this number is high in stressful situations.
